About Us

Clayton Farmer

Clayton Farmer is the owner of the Farmer’s MedShoppe pharmacy and compounding lab. Clayton opened the vault to his new career when the first Farmer’s MedShoppe opened in 2010, and that location was a former bank. The  current Farmer’s MedShoppe location, opened its doors in 2012.

Before opening Farmer’s MedShoppe, Clayton has been part of the Marion County community for 17 years. Previously, Clayton was a pharmacist at Winn-Dixie, Wal-Mart and an independent store.

“It’s 17 years of building relationships. It’s making sure that people know that you truly care about their well-being, and that you want to help them. You want to give them hope. You want them to know, ‘Hey, I understand what you’re going through, and I will do whatever I can do help you get through this.’"

After all, it’s in Clayton’s DNA to care for others. From the time Clayton was in middle school, he wanted to be a pharmacist. After graduating high school, Clayton earned a Bachelor of Pharmacy at the University of Mississippi. From being a student to a pharmacist to entrepreneur to being honored in his home state, Clayton’s made quite an impact. On July 1, Clayton receives an incredible honor. That’s when he will be sworn in to the Mississippi State Board of Pharmacy. It’s the beginning of a five-year term. There are only seven board members, and every member of this distinguished group is a licensed pharmacist.

Originally, Clayton is from Poplarville, Mississippi. He met his wife and co-owner of The Clinic at Farmer’s MedShoppe, Tonya, when they attended church camp. Clayton was a teenager when he met Tonya. In their twenties, they began dating and married soon thereafter. They have two children: a son (Wallace-11) and daughter (Gracelyn-8). Tonya and Clayton are inspired by the memory of their daughter Anna Grace (Wallace’s twin) who passed after eight and a half months due to a heart defect.

“That was the beginning of what changed my perception of healthcare and how important it was. When she passed, it just completely changed me as a person. Helping people and being a blessing to others is what defines me.”

Tonya and Clayton are involved with the Anna Grace Farmer Adoption Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. It’s an adoption agency through New Beginnings.
